South Indian Villan Actor Rajan P Dev Passed Away

He was admitted at Lakeshore hospital after vomiting blood. He was under treatment for liver disease for a long time. He is survived by his wife Santha, daughter Ashamma and son Jibile Raj.

His body will be kept for public to pay respects at Ernakulam town hall. Funeral ceremony will be held at St. Xavier’s church in Karukutti on July 30 at 11am.

The actor’s last release was the recent Mammootty’s Ee Patanathil Bhootham, in which he played the villain’s role. In a career spanning close to three decades, he acted in about 180 films as villain, character artist and comedian.

Rajan started his career as a theatre artist and ran his own drama troupe. His claim to fame was playing Kochu Vava in the stage play Kattu Kuthira, which got him the film offers.

He shined mainly as a villain with his own style of dialogue delivery and punchlines. Rajan caricatured the typical corrupt cop in over 35 films and was a favourite with the audiences.

Kollywoodtiger thanks to his villain image in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada. His last Tamil release was the conventional bad man in Malayan released last week.
