Priya Mani gets best actress national award

54th National Film Awards announced in New Delhi today (June10) which paruthiveeran-priyamani-muthazhaguconsidered to be the highest level of appreciation of Indian Cinema Industry. The best actress award has been given to Priyamani for Muthazhagu character in Paruthi Veeran directed by Ameer Sultan. This film was also featured at the Berlin Film Festival.

For this appreciation, Priyamani told ” I never expected an award – leave alone a national one. All credit goes to director Ameer for his faith and the technicians who etched my role despite it being totally deglamourised. The entire team deserves ample praise. I am elated, happy and speechless at the moment. It can’t get better than this. Muthazhagu has given me everything- Name, Fame, Awards, Recognition and above all box-office success.”

The best Tamil film went to Vasanthabalan’s Veyil.
