The Launch of the movie Nee Indri Naan Illai was attended by CM Karunanidhi, Actor Kamal Hassan, Actor Siva Kumar, Actor Suriya, Vivek, Manorama and others.

Nee Indri Naan Illai movie screenplay will be written by Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Kalaignar Karunanidhi. It is well known that writing is the passion for Kalaigner Karunanidhi, C.M. Tamil Nadu. His numbers of stories were made as pictures in Tamil. The title of this flick was given by the C.M as “Nee Indri Naan Illai”. The film is going to be produced by Nandini Arts. Kannan will be the cinematographer. Nee Indri Naan Illai cast include Thalaivasal Vijay, Manorama, Ganja Karuppu and Kovai Sarala. ‘Thenisai Thendral’ Deva scores the music for this movie. Lyrics penned by Vairamuthu, Mu. Metha, Na. Muthukumar and Pazhanibharathi.

Kamal Haasan, who had recently announced that his project after ‘Unnaipol Oruvan’ would be ‘19th Step’ in which he plays a martial arts teacher, has backed out of the project. The film, which will be directed by Bharat Bala, has Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano in the lead. He will be paired with Asin in the film. The film is being produced by Walt Disney and will have music by AR Rahman.

Kamal Haasan’s was originally slated to be an extended guest appearance, and he was expected to begin work on it after shooting for ‘Unnaipol Oruvan’. It, however, is learnt that Kamal Haasan had wanted a few changes to be effected in the script, which did not work well with the producers. Due to this, the actor has now backed out of the project.

There were talks earlier that the production house, Walt Disney, had planned on producing an Rs 120 crore mega flick with Kamal in the lead, but the actor later denied it himself. There were also initial suggestions that ‘Marmayogi’ would be produced by them.

Two years after the birth of their baby Diya and Jyotika announcing that she is putting her film career on hold, the star couple Suriya and Jyotika were spotted at a photo shoot for an advertisement, in Chennai. After being seen officially on camera for only one other time (for a social awareness video for Suriya’s Agaram Foundation projects), this is the first time the two of them have posed together for the camera. Apparently, when asked whether this is the re-start of her film career, Jo just flashed her brilliant smile and said, “Gosh, no. No plans for that right now and who knows if I could even remember how to act!”

Chennai: “I broke down and wept the moment I heard Michael Jackson is dead,” said South Indian dancing star, actor, and film director Prabhu Deva. “It is indeed a very, very sad day. Whatever I am today, I owe it all to Michael Jackson.”

Prabhu Deva, whose fleet-footed dancing style and fluid body movements often resulted in him being compared with his idol — he was even called the Indian Michael Jackson when he first came into the limelight — said the fame and honour he has received were all due to the pop icon.

“I became a great fan of his at a young and impressionable age as I was greatly moved by his singing and dancing,” he told DNA.

“My first impression of the king of pop was on television,” Prabhu Deva recalled. “His album Thriller was a great learning experience for me. The videos, songs, music, everything about that album was so superb. I picked up a lot of tips from it.”

That was the point Prabhu Deva’s fascination with Jackson began, and it has continued to this day. “I’m sure the world will remember this legend of pop both for his audio and video,” he said. “It is difficult not to keep one’s emotions in check as he has inspired me all my life.”

The high point of Prabhu Deva’s life, naturally, was meeting his idol in Mumbai back in 1996. Deeply upset by his death, he kept repeating, “It is very sad, very sad”, and said it would be very difficult to think of the music world without him.

Born in Mysore on April 3, 1973, Prabhu Deva grew up in the film world of Chennai where his father Mugur Sundar was a dance master for movies.

Several netizens across the globe were in for a surprise when they logged in to check their e-mail accounts recently – they had received a personalised e-mail from actress Namitha. This e-mail which came in the form of a newsletter, from the mail id actress.namitha2002@gmail.com, urged the receivers to watch her upcoming movie Indira Vizha which is scheduled to hit the screens on July 10.

While some fans appreciated the actress’ gesture of sending them an e-mail, many others were suspicious of the sender’s identity. In fact some of them even dismissed the message thinking it to be spam or even a prank. But it turns out that this was no delayed April Fools’ joke.The mail was written in Namitha’s characteristic style – the actress always refers to her co-stars as machan or machi and here too she had called Srikanth, who plays the male lead, machan. The actress also mentioned that she has a substantial role in the movie and profusely thanked director Rajeshwar for giving her this opportunity.

When she was contacted by this newspaper, Namitha admitted that she had sent the mail and also added that this was one of the movie’s producers, Sanjeev Sharma’s idea. She explains, “One day Sanjeev and I were talking at length about the promotion of Indira Vizha when suddenly he came up with this idea of tapping into my large fan base using technology. He told me how we could send mails to thousands of people at one go as a part of the film’s publicity. I was instantly bowled over by the idea and felt this was a unique way of reaching out to the masses. So I took time out and personally designed these newsletters and ensured there was liberal use of ‘Tanglish’ (combination of Tamil and English).”

According to Namitha, a total of 20 lakh e-mails have been sent out and she claims that she received approximately 22,000 replies within one hour. “It was amazing because I never expected such an overwhelming response. I was so overjoyed that I even replied back to some of the mails immediately,” says the excited actress.
